Where are my keys? Wrapped

In a paper towel and

Flung into the trash.

Winter light, silver

Sun. Cool jazz in the car, so

Free on the fast road.

Covered in frost, cold

Crystals are caught by sunlight

They twinkle and shine.

Ink flows to paper

Turquoise scrawled across the page

Words all in a line.

Sometimes people suck

And yet, in the end, we have

Only each other.

When lives end, they can

Continue in memory

To give us comfort

The sun will rise each

Day, much the same and yet so

Very much unique.

Lavender clouds with

Streaks of silvery salmon

Announce the sunrise

Places in my dreams.

Familiar yet strange, often

Repeated but changed.

Sunrise, fiery

Splendor. Fierce beauty gives strength

Hope, to meet the day

Night noises, distant

Muffled in the dark, constant

Hum so far away
