Pale green, pumpkin seeds

Spicy pepper, sour tomatillo

Fresh cilantro – mole!

Fresh sheets, soft lagoon

Colors soothe, but Lily

Takes up half the bed

  Pink petals, spiky edge

Delicate green stems, a touch

Of Holland in der Schweiz

Crazy dreams wake me

To find jumbled memories,

Try to sleep again.

February 1
For each day this month, I will
Compose a haiku.

Now days grow longer

The dark diminishes, but

We hope for winter

Pink puffs against blue

Golden sky behind mountains

The morning arrives

Ribbons of clouds, shades

of gray to white. Patches of blue

poke through here and there.
