Light comes later, days
Grow shorter. Chilly mornings.
Leaves color and die.

Gray skies, damp and cool,
Low fog skirts the trees, misty
And mysterious.
Back home again, our
Family is together
Relax and enjoy.
Darkness quickens, days
Are shorter. Summer winds down
Still, hot days remain.
Low fog brushes my face
Tiny droplets sting. Sounds are
Muffled, seem distant
Delicious coolness
Greets me as I awake
Glad to start my day.
Awake from deep sleep
Barely light, strange dreams, plaintive
Dog. Return to bed.
And an afterthought
Mid-day heat soars, I
Lay across the bed, a slug
Salt me and be done!
Restful sleep, humming fan
Cool and fresh from rain, i stretch
And drink my coffee.
Darkened sky, wind picks
Up, feels ominous. Summer
Storms bring heat relief.
Steady sun shine, no
Mercy for the plants, vit D
Sure, but just too hot.
