A pink blush lines the
Horizon. Gradual shift
Light to dark, sunset.
Escape the cold rain,
North to sun and warmth, milder
Maritime climate.
Hills become lower
Spaces are wider. The sky
Grows in flatter land.
Gray blue sky, heavy
Layers of clouds cover a
Fiery orange sunset.
Farther north, long slow
Sunset. Colors shift and change –
So much to enjoy.
Eighteen years married.
Not so long, never long enough.
To love forever.
Veins of light split the
Sky, bright flashes bring loud booms.
Lily barks in fright.
Cool mist gives way to
Blue skies, warm sun. I rush to
Find my big straw hat.
Under the covers
Cold and damp, gray. The end of May?
Even flowers hide.
Too many people
Smells invade. No space to breathe,
So we leave the train.
New train is empty, stark, clean.
Lean into the seat and rest.
Gold hued light, ancient
Arches over narrow streets,
Full moon overhead.
Rolling hills, houses
Clustered, warm colors, dark
Narrow points of trees
Blue sky emerging
Wind is brisk, whiffs of roses
And bacon cooking.
